I’m thankful that my boys are happy and healthy and are just magnificent humans, I’m thankful that they call me the best name I’ve ever been called in life - Mum.
While shopping, my H and I called in a record store that has band, funny, offensive, cute t-shirts, I saw a quirky one that applied to my H and we both laughed, he asked me what size I thought would look best on him and I told him, he said I’m just going to pay for this, he did and he came back happy as a lamb with his newly bagged t-shirt. I know that may sound like nothing to most but my H has never bought anything for himself without me forcing him or just buying it for him, he hated spending money on himself, not only that but he would never EVER wear anything like a quirky t-shirt, he was always consumed with what others would think.
We just went along to the next store but I felt a rush of something, I was so taken back by what I’d just experienced, 26 years and I’ve never seen him do that, just see something he liked and buy it for himself, he was at peace, happy, relaxed and I’m thankful I got front row tickets to see that, him become himself, the only word I can find to describe what I saw is beautiful.

My H wrote me a beautiful note on a special day. I was not expecting it.
We are only several months out.
I am so grateful for his compassion and for him still being open to R.

Thankful on a Thursday!
Packing up to head out on a series of trips with my wife, covering both US coasts and a few states in between.
We will harass our adult kids a few times along the way and see family and friends, taking our early retirement to some spaces and places we either miss or have never seen.
It could be a significant hiatus from anything online (which may be an e-vacation as well), and it could be a while before I get be to thankful for all the helpful and kind souls here on SI.
So, thanks in advance and I hope everyone is healing more every day!

Thankful Thursday yey,
I’m thankful that I got to spend a day at the seaside and while we were there my H asked if I’d ever visit this place before, I hadn’t, then he asked if my Nannan had visited, I said I wasn’t sure, I remembered I had some old pictures of her on holiday with my father and uncle when they were small children, low and behold we discovered we were sitting meters away from where that photo was taken on the sea front a whopping 65 years ago!. We walked to the exact spot on the beach and my H and I recreated the picture. To see the pictures side by side, my Nannan, with her little children (my dad and uncle) and other family members then my husband and I, all the old buildings in the background still standing unchanged, it was quite emotional and I cried, I’ll cherish that picture forever, it really is special and I’m so thankful he took me there and recreated the picture for me.
We had a wonderful day, we ate fish and chips, saw lots of gorgeous friendly doggos and even got some freshly made doughnuts on our way back to the car, our feet were so tired and aching by the end of the day but it was worth it, we spent the 2 hour car ride home singing our favourite songs at the top of our lungs.
I’m also thankful for my wonderful SI friends, I can’t ever repay them all for what they have done for me and continue to do.
